Visit Pingyao Ancient City

Pingyao Ancient City is located in the central part of Shanxi Province, with favorable traffic. It is the birthplace of Jin Merchant Culture. The whole ancient city is a huge architectural complex composed of ancient city wall, ancient street, ancient shop, ancient temple and ancient civilian residential housing, which is a live sample of county town of Han Nationality region of China in Ming and Qing period. On December 3, 1997, together with Shuanglin Temple and Zhenguo Temple, Pingyao Ancient City was listed into "Roaster of World's Cultural Legacies". UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Legacy Committee has evaluated Pingyao Ancient City as:"Pingyao Ancient City is an outstanding model of cities of Han Nationality of China in Ming and Qing period. Pingyao Ancient City keeps all its characteristics and, in Chinese history, has shown an extrodinary complete picture of cultural, social, economic and religious development."

Walk on Pingyao Ancient City Wall

The legend has it that Pingyao Ancient City Wall was originally constructed 2,700 years ago, In the 3rd year (1370) of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, the original city of Pingyao was expanded and reconstructed to the ancient city of Pingyao in stock. Horizontally seen, the Ancient City Wall, 6.4 km around, is square-shaped. On the east, west, and north of the city, the walls are built straight,. Only on the south, the meandering wall is built along the Zhongdu River. It's said that the city was built as a place of interest on the basis of the turtle that was playing with water in front of it and of the mountains and water which face the sun. Standing at the city wall to watch the smoke curling upwards from kitchen chimneys, or looking into the distance of ancient city wall in evening mist, will lead into a time long long ago...

Watch folk-custom performance in Government Office Buildings

The Pingyao County Government Office Buildings, the typical model of the organizational system of China's ancient county in  the Feudal dynasty periods, was originally constructed in 1346, the third year of Emperor Yuanzhen in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). Most of the existing buildings were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties according to their principles except for one remaining from the Yuan Dynasty. The magnificent compound is consisted of such major buildings as the Memorial Archway, Datang Hall, Ertang Hall, Daxian Tower, Residence, Garden and so on. There are folk-custom performance everyday in the Governmentt Office Buildings, you may play the role of County Magistrate for one time.

Visit Rishengchang Draft Bank

China Draft Bank Museum, built on the former site of Rishengchang Draft Bank, is located on the south side of West Avenue in Pingyao Ancient City. Rishengchang Draft Bank, dubbed as the grandfather of China's contemporary bank in the countryside, is the first one of its kind founded in China in 1823. The establishment of Rishengchang has been a milestone in China's financial and banking development history for remittance with an important epoch-making significance for businessmen in management at present.

Museum of No.1 Armed Escort in North China, is the first museum in China which shows the history and culture of armed escorts comprehensively. Hukou waterfall, the only yellow waterfall on the Yellow River, is the second largest waterfall in China. Hukou Waterfall scenic spot centered on the Hukou waterfall integrated with the Yellow River gorge, loess plateau and ancient plateau villages, showing the magnificent natural landscape and rich historical accumulation of the Yellow River basin. In 2016, it was promoted to China's National Geopark. When you walking close to Hukou Waterfall, you can feel the magnificent "water from the sky" in the roar: surging yellow water, with the force of a thunderbolt, straight runs down into the cliff, setting off the yellow waves in the sky and shaking the earth. Hukou Waterfall is also a moving waterfall according to Yellow River 's water level.
